Nhiễm trùng hô hấp cấp tính (NTHHCT) là một nhóm bệnh hay gặp ở trẻ em, có tỷ lệ tử vong cao, đặc biệt là viêm phổi. NTHHCT và suy dinh dưỡng (SDD) tạo thành vòng luẩn quẩn trong quá trình điều trị, làm gia tăng mức độ nặng của bệnh dẫn đến ảnh hưởng tăng trưởng của trẻ.

Mục tiêu: Đánh giá tình trạng dinh dưỡng (TTDD) của bệnh nhi từ 6 – 60 tháng tuổi bị mắc NTH-HCT nằm điều trị nội trú tại 2 bệnh viện tuyến huyện ở Thái Bình năm 2017. Nghiên cứu mô tả cắt ngang trên 218 bệnh nhi mắc NTHHCT từ tháng 2 đến tháng 4 năm 2017.

Kết quả: Tỷ lệ SDD khi nhập viện là 24,8% sau ba ngày nhập viện, tỷ lệ này là 28,9%. Trẻ bị viêm phổi có tỷ lệ SDD cao nhất, tiếp đến là NTHH trên, NTHH dưới lần lượt là 27,7%; 19,6%; 11,8%. Tỷ lệ gày sút cân ở bệnh nhi bị viêm phổi cao hơn bệnh nhi mắc NTHH trên (59,4% so với 52,2%).

Acute respiratory, infections (ARI) are a group of common childhood illness that have a high mortality rate, particularly pneumonia. ARI and malnutrition make a vicious circle during treatment, increasing the severity of the disease leading to growth failure of the children.

Objectives: To assess the nutritional status of the children aged 6 – 60 months with acute respiratory infections at two district hospitals in Thai Binh province in 2017. A cross sectional study was conducted on 218 pediatric patients with acute respiratory infections between February and April 2017.

Results: At admission, the percentage of malnutritions was 24.8%. After three days of admission, this rate was 28.9%. The proportion of patients with pneumonia have the highest rates of malnutrition of 27.7%, followed by upper respiratory infections and lower respiratory infections of 19.6% and 11.8%, respectively. The prevalence of weight loss in pediatric patients with pneumonia was higher tha patients with upper respiratory infections (59.4% vs. 52.2%).
