English summary: This
review article briefed the challenges of food hygiene and safety
control in Vietnam with updates on the current situation, including the
globalization trends, the acceleration of food poisoning and food-born
diseases, issues in food production, management and circulation, poor
knowledge and practice of consumers. The author also addressed the
opportunities and recommendations to the improvement of the situation by
legislation reinforcement, Government support, International support,
local and system capacity building and scientific research.
