Nghiên cứu can thiệp có đối chứng trong thời gian 9 tháng bằng truyền thông giáo dục dinh dưỡng nhằm phòng chống thừa cân béo phì trên 700 trẻ em từ 6-14 tuổi. Nghiên cứu thực hiện ở 2 trường của quận Hoàn Kiếm và 2 trường của quận Ba Đình, Hà Nội. Mô hình truyền thông giáo dục dinh dưỡng, lấy học sinh là trung tâm, gắn nhà trường, thầy cô và phụ huynh vào quá trình can thiệp. Kết quả là đã cải thiện được kiến thức của học sinh về thừa cân và béo phì, cũng như thái độ và thực hành ăn uống hợp lý. Ở nhóm trẻ được can thiệp có sự thay đổi rõ rệt về hoạt động thể lực, trẻ tích cực tham gia các hoạt động thể dục thể thao như bơi lội, cầu lông, bóng bàn, đá bóng cao hơn và giảm thời gian tĩnh tại như xem tivi, chơi điện tử.

An intervention study with control group in 9 months using nutrition education and communication approach to prevent overweight/obesity was conduced in 700 children aged 6-14 years old. Those children are at 2 schools of Hoan Kiem districts and 2 schools of Ba Dinh district in Hanoi. The study used nutrition education and communication model, taking the children as the central target and involving schools, teachers and parents in the intervention process. The results showed that knowledge, as well as attitude and practices of the children on the control of overweight/obesity and proper diet were improved. In intervention group, there was significant improvement in physical activities, i.e they were more active to play sports such as swimming, badminton, soccer, table tennis and spent less time for inactive activities such as watching TV or playing games.
