Mục tiêu: Đánh giá hiệu quả của việc bổ sung phối hợp sắt và kẽm lên tình trạng thiếu máu, thiếu sắt, thiếu kẽm trên trẻ suy dinh dưỡng (SDD) thấp còi 1- 3  tuổi.

Phương pháp: Nghiên cứu can thiệp cộng đồng có đối chứng.

Đối tượng: trẻ suy dinh dưỡng (SDD) thấp còi 1- 3 tuổi ở Nhóm can thiệp bổ sung sắt và kẽm và nhóm chứng không bổ sung sắt, kẽm.

Kết quả: Sau 6 tháng can thiệp ở nhóm chứng và nhóm can thiệp Hb (g/L) tăng 3,2 ± 12,7 và 2,5 ± 14,9; Ferritin (μg/L) tăng 16,1 ± 31,3 và 24,6 ± 37,9; kẽm huyết thanh (μmol/L) tăng 0,32 ± 2,52 và 1,31 ± 3,30. Thay đổi tỷ lệ thiếu máu, thiếu sắt, thiếu kẽm sau 6 tháng  can thiệp ở nhóm chứng và nhóm can thiệp tương ứng như sau: thiếu máu tăng 3% và giảm 6,2%; thiếu sắt giảm 12,1% và 19,6%; thiếu kẽm giảm 1 % và 21,7%.

Kết luận: Sử dụng sản phẩm Suppy bổ sung sắt kẽm trong 6 tháng trên trẻ SDD thấp còi 1-3 tuổi có hiệu quả tăng nồng độ Ferritin, kẽm huyết thanh và giảm tỷ lệ thiếu máu, thiếu sắt, thiếu kẽm hơn so với sử dụng sản phẩm Suppy không bổ sung vi chất dinh dưỡng sắt và kẽm.

Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of iron and zinc supplementation on anemia, iron and zinc deficiencies in stunted children 1-3 years old.

Methods: A randomized control trial. Subjects: stunted children aged 1-3 years old in the intervention group using a food product with iron and zinc supplementation and the control group without iron and zinc supplementation.

Results: After 6 months of intervention in the control and intervention groups, Hb (g/L) increased by 3.2 ± 12.7 and 2.5 ± 14.9, ferritin (μg/L) increased by 16.1 ± 31.3 and 24.6 ± 37.9 and serum zinc (μmol/L) increased 0.32 ± 2.52 and 1.31 ± 3.30, respectively. Changes in the rates of anemia, iron deficiency, zinc deficiency after 6 months of intervention in the control group and the intervention group respectively were as follows: anemia increased by 3% and decreased by 6.2%; iron deficiency decreased by 12.1% and 19.6%; zinc deficiency decreased by 1% and 21.7%.

Conclusions: Supplementation of Suppy product supplemented with iron-zinc for 6 months on stunted children 1-3 years old effectively increased ferritin and serum zinc concentration and reduced the rates of anemia, iron deficiency and zinc deficiency in compare with children in the control group without iron and zinc supplementation.
