2. Function: Department of applied research in the field of prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases related to nutrition, implementing trials and proposing solutions for prevention of non-communicable diseases through appropriate nutrition for people in the community. 

3. Mission:

• Research, investigate and evaluate the current situation of chronic non-communicable diseases related to nutrition in Vietnam,
• Research on risk factors of chronic non-communicable diseases related to nutrition in Vietnam to propose appropriate measures to control risk factors.
• Research on appropriate nutrition and physical activity to treat people with nutrition-related non-communicable diseases
• Research and test measures to prevent non-communicable diseases according to the life cycle, suitable for each target group.
• Participate in developing documents, training, education and communication and providing guidance in the field of Prevention of non-communicable diseases related to nutrition.
• Carry out domestic and international cooperation in research and training on prevention and control of nutrition-related non-communicable diseases.
• Implement intervention services to improve nutritional status for people with chronic non-communicable diseases related to nutrition in need.
• Perform other tasks assigned by the Director.
