On January 28, 2026, in Hanoi, the National Institute of Nutrition (Ministry of Health) held the inauguration ceremony of the Nutrition Information Portal – a specialized digital information platform on nutrition and community health. The event was attended by leaders of the Ministry of Health; representatives of departments, bureaus, and units under the Ministry of Health; representatives of the Department of General Education and the Department of Early Childhood Education under the Ministry of Education and Training; research institutes and international organizations; along with numerous experts, scientists, and media agencies.

In recent years, Viet Nam has achieved many positive results in improving the nutritional status and health of its population. However, the country continues to face a triple burden of malnutrition, including (1) undernutrition and (2) micronutrient deficiencies in certain regions and population groups, and (3) a rapidly increasing prevalence of overweight and obesity, accompanied by a growing burden of nutrition-related non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, disparities in nutritional status across regions and the widespread circulation of unverified nutrition information in the digital environment have created an urgent need for an official, evidence-based information channel with a user-friendly interface, enabling the public to easily access reliable knowledge and practical nutrition guidance from experts.

Arising from these practical needs, the Nutrition Information Portal has been developed and operated by the National Institute of Nutrition to provide accurate, consistent, and accessible nutrition information to the public, while also supporting health workers, managers, and the media system in nutrition communication and education activities. The Portal aims to serve as a bridge between science, policy, and practice, contributing to improved awareness and the promotion of healthy nutrition behaviors within the community.

The Nutrition Information Portal integrates a wide range of important content and functions, including the provision of news and nutrition knowledge for different target groups; the introduction of scientific research findings and nutrition surveillance data; professional materials to support training and capacity building for health workers; tools for searching the nutritional values of foods and dishes; as well as evidence-based recommendations and guidelines for appropriate nutrition practices.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. PhD. Tran Thanh Duong, Director of the National Institute of Nutrition, emphasized that the launch of the Nutrition Information Portal represents a concrete step toward effectively implementing the National Nutrition Strategy for the period 2021–2030, with a vision to 2045, particularly in the fields of nutrition communication, nutrition education, and digital transformation. The Portal is expected to contribute to improving the quality, effectiveness, and consistency of nutrition communication nationwide. On this occasion, the leadership of the National Institute of Nutrition also expressed appreciation and sincere thanks to Nutifood Nutrition Food Joint Stock Company for its effective partnership and financial support in accompanying the Institute throughout the development of the Nutrition Information Portal.

Delivering directive remarks at the event, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong highly appreciated the efforts of the National Institute of Nutrition in developing and putting into operation the Nutrition Information Portal – a platform aligned with the policy orientation of shifting from “treatment” to “prevention,” placing people at the center, and closely linked to the health sector’s digital transformation agenda in accordance with Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW dated September 9, 2025, of the Politburo. The Ministry of Health’s leadership requested that the National Institute of Nutrition continue to ensure the official status, scientific rigor, and up-to-date nature of the content, and strengthen connections with health systems at all levels and with the sector’s digital platforms in order to widely disseminate accurate nutrition information to the community.

At the event, representing Nutifood Nutrition Food Joint Stock Company, Mr. Le Nguyen Hoa – Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors – stated that with more than 25 years of establishment and development, Nutifood has consistently pursued its mission of improving the physical strength and intellectual capacity of the Vietnamese people through scientific nutrition solutions tailored to the Vietnamese constitution. Nutifood’s partnership with the National Institute of Nutrition in building the Nutrition Information Portal stems from its long-term commitment to improving community health through scientific knowledge, thereby helping people understand correctly, sufficiently, and apply nutrition knowledge appropriately in their daily lives.

Within the program framework, the Organizing Committee conducted the official launch ceremony of the Nutrition Information Portal with the participation of leaders of the Ministry of Health, leaders of the National Institute of Nutrition, and relevant units. Immediately afterward, a scientific panel discussion themed “Nutrition Information Portal – A Scientific Platform Disseminating Knowledge for Community Health” took place, attracting extensive exchanges and discussions among experts in nutrition, preventive medicine, and health communication. Participants shared the consensus that the Portal will serve as an important tool to support behavior change in nutrition, enhance the effectiveness of communication efforts, and provide data and reference materials for management and policy planning.

In the coming period, the National Institute of Nutrition stated that it will continue to further develop and refine the Nutrition Information Portal in a modern and sustainable direction; strengthen the application of digital technologies; expand connections with domestic and international agencies and organizations; and move toward building a national nutrition communication platform to serve long-term efforts in protecting, caring for, and improving the health of the population.
