On the morning of November 5, 2025, at the Da Vinci Meeting Room of VinUniversity (Hanoi), the National Institute of Nutrition (Ministry of Health) and VinUniversity held a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony, marking an important milestone in establishing collaboration between the two institutions in training, scientific research, and the development of high-quality human resources in the health and nutrition sectors.
Representing the National Institute of Nutrition was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Duong – Director General, together with leaders and staff from relevant departments. From VinUniversity, participants included Prof. Michelle Hermiston – Dean of the College of Health Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Le Cu Linh – Executive Vice Dean, along with academic and research staff of the College.
At the beginning of the meeting, representatives from both sides presented an overview of their history, missions, and academic strengths. The National Institute of Nutrition, as the leading institution in the field of nutrition in Vietnam, plays a pivotal role in scientific research, capacity building, professional training, nutrition communication and education, and the implementation of national nutrition programs. Meanwhile, VinUniversity—one of Vietnam’s premier research-oriented universities—is making remarkable progress in the fields of medicine, health sciences, and innovation.

During the ceremony, both parties discussed potential directions for collaboration in the near future, focusing on joint research projects in nutrition and health, training cooperation, capacity development, data sharing, and the co-organization of scientific conferences and workshops. The two sides also agreed to develop a detailed action plan to implement the agreed areas of cooperation.
In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Duong emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships between research institutions and universities in the field of nutrition to promote applied research and improve the quality of health workforce training. Representing VinUniversity, Prof. Michelle Hermiston expressed her appreciation for the collaboration with the National Institute of Nutrition—the leading institution in Vietnam’s nutrition sector—and her belief that this partnership will open up new opportunities for research and teaching, especially as nutrition and public health are receiving growing attention both domestically and globally.

The signing ceremony took place in a warm and respectful atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of mutual cooperation and commitment to shared growth. The Memorandum of Understanding serves as a foundation for both institutions to leverage their respective strengths, enhance collaboration in research and training, and contribute to the overarching goal of improving the health and well-being of the Vietnamese people.
