Investigation of child caring practices of ethnic mothers in central highland

Nghiên cứu trên Bà mẹ nuôi con nhỏ <36 tháng tuổi người dân tộc Ê Đê (ở ĐakLak), Gia Rai và Ba Na (ở GiaLai), M’Nông (ở Đak Nông), Xơ Đăng (ở KonTum) và Cơ Ho (ở Lâm Đồng). Sử dụng phương pháp cắt ngang mô tả. Kết quả phỏng vấn cho thấy: Chỉ có 3,8% bà mẹ có thói quen cho trẻ bú trong vòng 30 phút đầu sau sinh; Lý do chủ yếu là "chờ sữa về". Có 73,8% bà mẹ cho rằng cho trẻ bú cho đến lúc trẻ tự bỏ bú; Lý do cai sữa chủ yếu là trẻ tự bỏ bú; 34,1% trẻ được ăn bổ sung trước 3 tháng tuổi và 65,9% từ 4 tháng tuổi. 62,7% bà mẹ có thói quen không cho dầu hoặc mỡ vào thức ăn bổ sung của trẻ; Lý do không cho trẻ ăn dầu và mỡ chủ yếu là do bà mẹ không biết việc cần thiết phải sử dụng thực phẩm này. 33,5% bà mẹ có thói quen cho trẻ ăn cơm nhai 45,0% bà mẹ có thói quen kiêng ăn cho trẻ trẻ bị tiêu chảy (thường là dầu, mỡ, cá, tôm).

Abstract:
A cross-sectional survey conducted in mothers of children under 36 months old from the ethnic minority groups, which are Ede (in Dak Lak), Gia Lai and Ba Na (in Gia Lai), M’Nong (in Dak Nong), Xo Dang (in Kon Tum) and Co Ho (in Lam Dong). The results revealed that: only 3.8% of the mothers breastfed their children within the first 30 minutes and the main reason was “waiting for the coming of breast milk”. 73.8% of the mothers would give breast milk until their children wanted to stop. The reason of weaning is mainly because of the babies’ will. 34.1% of the interviewed children were given complementary food before 3 months old; and 65.9% from the 4th months old. 62.7% of the mothers did not add fat/oils in complementary food and the main reason was that it is not necessary. 33.5% of the mothers were chewing rice to feed their babies. 45% of the mothers practiced food abstinence (commonly fat/oil, fish, shrimp) when the babies got diarrhea.
