Một nghiên cứu cắt ngang mô tả trên 524 bà mẹ có con từ 0-23 tháng tuổi tại 4 xã thuộc huyện Thanh Sơn, Phú Thọ nhằm đánh giá thực hành nuôi con bằng sữa mẹ của bà mẹ. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy: tỷ lệ trẻ bú sớm trong vòng giờ đầu sau sinh là 55,2%. Tỷ lệ trẻ <6 tháng được bú mẹ hoàn toàn là 39,3%; tỷ lệ trẻ bú mẹ là chủ yếu là 14,7%. Tỷ lệ trẻ <2 tuổi đã từng được bú mẹ là 100%, tỷ lệ trẻ tiếp tục được bú mẹ đến 1 tuổi là 92% và tỷ lệ trẻ tiếp tục được bú mẹ đến khi 2 tuổi là 33%. Tỷ lệ trẻ bú bình là 6,1%. Khoảng 47,5% đã từng gặp vấn đề viêm/tắc tia sữa, áp xe vú và nứt cổ gà.

A cross-sectional study was conducted on 524 mothers having children aged 0-23 months in four communes in Thanh Son District, Phu Tho province to determine breastfeeding practices. The study results showed that the proportion of children who were put to the breast within one hour of birth was 55.2%; proportion of exclusive breastfeeding among infants less than 6 months was 39.3%; proportion of predominant breastfeeding was 14.7%. The proportion of children less 2 years ever breastfed was 100%, the proportion of children continuing to be breastfed at 1 year was 92% and at 2 years was 33%. The proportion of children bottle-fed was 6.1%. Approximately 47.5% of mothers had breastfeeding difficulties such as inflammatory/engorgement, breast abscess and cracked nipples.
