Nghiên cứu về hiệu quả của bổ sung sữa PediaPlus được tiến hành tại trường mẫu giáo xã Đồng Kỳ, huyện Yên Thế, Bắc Giang trong 4 tháng, từ tháng 1 đến cuối tháng 5 năm 2011. Tổng số 200 trẻ từ 36 đến 72 tháng tuổi ở trường mẫu giáo được chia llàm 2 nhóm can thiệp và chứng. Trẻ ở nhóm can thiệp (khu Cống Huyện) được bổ sung Pediaplus, trẻ ở nhóm chứng (khu Trại Quân) được uống sữa bò thông thường. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy PediaPlus được 87% trẻ chấp nhận tốt, không có trơngf hợp nào bị nôn hay tiêu chảy trong thời gian uống sữa. Cả PediaPlus và sữa bò thông thường đều có hiệu quả tích cực đến cải thiện tình trạng dinh dưỡng và vi chất ở trẻ. Tuy nhiên, PediaPlus có hiệu quả cao hơn: trẻ uốn PediaPlus tăng 0,7kg sau 2 tháng và 1,2kg sau 4 tháng can thiệp, cao hơn có ý nghĩa so với nhóm chứng (0,5kg sau 2 tháng và 0,7kg sau 4 tháng) (P< 0,01); Cuối can thiệp, hàm lượng Hb tăng khoảng 9,9g/L ở nhóm can thiệp, trong khi ở nhóm chứng chỉ tăng 1,7g/L. Bên cạnh đó, tỷ lệ thiếu máu giảm đáng kể ở cuối can thiệp (2% so với 19% ban đầu). Ở nhóm chứng tỷ lệ thiếu máu vẫn chiếm 17% (so với 22% ban đầu).

The study on the effectiveness of PediaPlus milk was carried out in the kindergarten in Dong Ky commune, Yen The district, Bac Giang province in 4 months from January to the end of May, 2011. The total 200 children from 36-72 months of age of the kindergarten were divided into intervention and control groups. The children of intervention group, which is located in Cong Huyen area of the commune, were supplemented PediaPlus, the children of the control group, which is located in Trai Quan area of the commune, was given common cow milk. The results of the study showed that, PediaPlus was well accepted by 87% of children, there was no child vomiting or diarrhea during the trial. Both PediaPlus and common cow milks had the positive effectiveness on the improvement of nutritional and micronutrient status of children. However, PediaPlus showed more effective compared to common cow milk: Children consuming PediaPlus had the average weight gain of 0.7kg after two months and 1.2kg after four months of intervention, which were much significantly higher compared to  those children consuming common cow milk group (0.5kg after two months and 0.7kg after four months) (p<0.01). At the end of intervention, 33% of underweight and 47% stunted children were rehabilitated to normal status, which were higher compared to those rates in common cow milk (10% & 29%, respectively); At the end of intervention, the concentration of Hb was increased about 9.9g/L in the intervention group, while it was increased only 1.7g/L in the common cow milk group (p<0.01). Also, the prevalence of anemia was remarkably reduced at the end of the intervention (2%) compared with baseline survey (19%). Whereas, that in common cow milk still remained at 17% (22% at baseline survey). At the end of the study, the prevalence of children, who used to have low serum A vitamin and zinc and became to normal, was higher in PediaPlus group compared to common cow milk group.
