Objectives: To determine the prevalence of malaria parasite infection and types of malaria parasites, and to assess knowledge - attitude - practices on malaria control and prevention of Van Kieu people.

English summary: Objectives: To determine the prevalence of malaria parasite infection and types of malaria parasites, and to assess knowledge - attitude - practices on malaria control and prevention of Van Kieu people. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out using systematic sampling on subjects older than 2 years of age in 6 villages of Ngan Thuy commune, Le Thuy district. In total, 242 blood samples were collected to find malaria parasites and 190 people were interviewed. Results: The prevalence of malaria parasite infection was 3.3%, of which 100% was P.falciparum. Only 12.1% of subjects had correct knowledge on malaria disease, 30.5% had the right attitude, and 60.6% had the right practices on the measures to prevent malaria. The prevalence of malaria parasite infection of subjects aged 6-15 years old was 16%, higher than that of subjects aged older than 16 years old (2.2%). Conclusion: It is necessary to conduct appropriate communication methods to increase the knowledge of the people on malaria, with special attention to subjects of low education level and at young age.
Mục tiêu: Xác định tỷ lệ nhiễm ký sinh trùng sốt rét (KSTSR) và các thể KSTSR, tìm hiểu kiến thức, thái độ, thực hành về phòng, chống bệnh sốt rét của người dân tộc Vân Kiều.

Tóm tắt tiếng Việt: Mục tiêu: Xác định tỷ lệ nhiễm ký sinh trùng sốt rét (KSTSR) và các thể KSTSR, tìm hiểu kiến thức, thái độ, thực hành về phòng, chống bệnh sốt rét của người dân tộc Vân Kiều. Phương pháp: Nghiên cứu mô tả cắt ngang, chọn mẫu hệ thống trên đối tượng từ 2 tuổi trở lên từ 6 bản, thuộc xã Ngân Thủy, huyện Lệ Thủy. 242 lam máu được xét nghiêm tìm KSTSR, 190 người được phỏng vấn. Kết quả: Tỷ lệ nhiễm KSTSR là 3,3%, với 100% là thể P. Falciparum. Chỉ có 12,1% là có kiến thức về bệnh sốt rét, 30,5% có thái độ đúng và 60,0% có thực hành đúng về các biện pháp phòng chống bệnh sốt rét. Tỷ lệ nhiễm KSTSR độ tuổi 6 tuổi – 15 tuổi là 16% cao hơn trên 16 tuổi là 2,2%. Kết luận: Cần tiến hành biện pháp truyền thông phù hợp để nhân dân hiểu được kiến thức về bệnh sốt rét, đặc biệt chú ý tới đối tượng có trình độ văn hóa thấp và lứa tuổi nhỏ.
