Currently, our country's population is over 95 million people, and will reach 100 million people in the next 10 years. The golden population period will gradually be replaced by the aging population period. Community and hospital nutrition care, ensuring food hygiene and safety for the entire population, and enhancing nutrition care to prevent chronic diseases are urgent requirements. To reach the level of Taiwan and Australia (ratio of 6-10 nutritionists/100,000 people), the number of nutritionists in Vietnam that need to be trained is up to 8,000 people.
Regarding the training of nutrition staff of level III: To train 8,000 of these staff with the participation of 15 medical training institutions (medical universities, medical faculties) nationwide with a number of 80 students/year, we need 10 years to meet the demand. In fact, the bachelor of nutrition training program was allowed by the Ministry of Education and Training to be piloted at Hanoi Medical University with the number of training in 2013 being only 46 students, in 2014 it was 35 students. Up to now, with the support of the National Institute of Nutrition, the bachelor of nutrition training network has been implemented at 07 universities: Hanoi Medical University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, Dong A University, Da Nang, Hanoi University of Public Health, Thang Long University and Thanh Dong University. Especially with Thanh Dong University, the National Institute of Nutrition and the VINEP Project have applied the Japanese model to build the first advanced university level nutrition training program in Vietnam. Students of this course enjoy many incentives from the VINEP Project such as: "excellent students overcome difficulties" scholarships, modern and updated teaching materials, effective and time-saving teacher-student interaction website, modern practice facilities of the Institute of Nutrition, attending some lectures by Japanese professors, internship opportunities in Japan for excellent students...
Regarding the training of nutrition staff level IV: In 2017 - 2018, within the framework of the VINEP Project, the National Institute of Nutrition supported Phu Tho Medical College and Hanoi College of Commerce to develop the first advanced college-level nutrition training program in Vietnam and is submitting it to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs for approval.
The Government's attention to nutrition, along with the efforts of the National Institute of Nutrition and universities and colleges nationwide, in the coming time, a team of nutritionists with professional qualifications and skills will be trained, meeting the needs of society and contributing to maintaining and improving human health, preventing and preventing the severity of diseases, thereby helping to improve the quality of life.
