Recommendations for prevention of acute respiratory infections caused by the new strain of Corona virus nCoV

To proactively prevent acute respiratory infections caused by the Corona nCoV virus, people need to proactively implement the following disease prevention measures: 

  • Limit direct contact with people with acute respiratory diseases (fever, cough, difficulty breathing); when necessary, wear medical masks properly and keep distance when in contact. People with symptoms of fever, cough, difficulty breathing should not travel or go to crowded places. Immediately notify health authorities if you have the above symptoms.
  • Personal hygiene, wash hands regularly under running water with soap or antiseptic solution for at least 20 seconds; gargle with mouthwash, avoid touching eyes, nose, mouth to prevent infection.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, preferably with a tissue or handkerchief, or with your sleeve to reduce the spread of respiratory secretions. Do not spit in public places.
  • Ensure food safety, use only cooked foods.

  • Avoid buying, selling or coming into contact with domestic or wild animals.
  • Keep your body warm, improve your health by eating, resting, living a reasonable life, and exercising.
  • Increase ventilation in the home by opening doors and windows, and limit the use of air conditioning. Regularly clean floors, doorknobs, and surfaces in the home with common cleaning agents, such as soap and other common disinfectants.
  • If you have signs of fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, wear a protective mask and immediately notify the nearest medical facility for timely consultation, examination, and treatment. Call the medical facility before arriving to inform about your symptoms and recent travel history so that appropriate support measures can be taken.
