2.     Function: 

  • As a unit under the Institute of Nutrition, operating under the direct leadership and management of the Institute's Board of Directors, with professional guidance from the Ministry of Health and related ministries. It has the function of state inspection of food hygiene and safety quality, imported food and biological products related to nutrition according to the needs of society. Applying information technology in implementing ASEAN single-window customs and national single-window customs mechanisms.
  • Advise the Director in the management and development of Information Technology (IT) applications in the Institute's fields of operation. Manage and operate the Institute's existing information network, apply and develop software systems in the Institute's management, training, scientific research and services. Advise, propose and coordinate in the purchase and upgrading of equipment and facilities used in the Institute's IT system.

3.     Mission:

a)    Tasks of State inspection of food safety and nutrition

  • State inspection of imported food hygiene and safety quality.
  • Applying IT in implementing ASEAN single window customs and national single window customs mechanism for 02 administrative procedures in the field of food safety.
  • Coordinate testing and inspection activities of imported food at laboratories to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with other relevant units to conduct testing and inspection of biological products related to nutrition, according to indications and social needs.
  • Participate in international cooperation and integration on food safety and nutrition-related biological products.
  • Participate in training, inspection and comment on documents on food safety and hygiene as assigned.
  • Other duties as required by the Director.

b)    Information technology tasks

  • Manage and maintain stable operation of the information network system in the Institute, connect information networks between units in the Institute and between the Institute and the Ministry of Health, and related public service units.
  • Organize the design and installation of information technology equipment for units in the Institute. Proactively advise, propose and coordinate in purchasing and upgrading equipment and facilities used in the Institute's information technology system to ensure quality.
  • Manage and maintain operations, promptly update information on the Institute's website, gradually improve website quality, serving the Institute's development work.
  • Developing IT software applications in the agency's management and developing the Institute's services in the coming time.
  • Manage and propose the repair, maintenance and upkeep of the entire IT infrastructure of the Institute and computer room. Advise and propose to the Institute on upgrading, repairing and installing IT systems throughout the Institute.
  • Provide information technology support to users in meeting rooms, lecture halls, conferences and seminars of the Institute.
  • Troubleshoot the Institute's information network, support computer problems, reinstall printers and remove viruses... in units within the agency.
  • Have a plan to advise on training and fostering knowledge of IT application in management, scientific research activities and service development of the agency. Apply technology to improve work efficiency.
  • Research, advise, propose and implement solutions to ensure safety and security for the agency's information systems and databases.
  • Develop annual and long-term plans to upgrade equipment, apply and develop the Institute's IT system to meet the Institute's long-term development requirements.
  • Participate in developing international cooperation projects in the field of information technology.
