To ensure resources for implementing the Strategy, the State has allocated budget for nutrition activities in the National Target Programs (sustainable poverty reduction, new rural construction, socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas). The Ministry of Health has issued implementation plans and guidelines for implementing nutrition activities in all three of the above target programs.
The Department of Maternal and Child Health (Ministry of Health) together with the Institute of Nutrition, with financial support from UNICEF, organized a conference to provide guidance on nutrition activities in national target programs for 63 provinces/cities in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang (both in person and online) for the Departments of Health, Centers for Disease Control or equivalent, and regional institutes on November 25 and December 2, 2022. At the conference, reporters from the Department of Maternal and Child Health and the Institute of Nutrition introduced nutrition activities in three national target programs, providing detailed technical guidance for the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, from planning and implementing intervention activities for mothers and children aged 0-16 (micronutrient supplementation, treatment of acute malnutrition, school nutrition, communication, monitoring and evaluation). At the Conference, delegates asked many questions related to expertise, techniques, beneficiaries of the intervention, and coordination between units in program implementation.
UNICEF representatives also pledged to continue to accompany the Government to provide professional and financial support in implementing nutrition activities of the three National Target Programs.
