Food consumption has been long found being closely related to community health. By comparing the food consumption patterns in Vietnam during the xx century (1940 - 2000) it is shown that there was no change in characteristics of Vietnamese food consumption pattern through different periods up to 1990.
The study aims to determine antibacterial effects of several herbal plants on the growth and toxin production of S.aureus. Antibacterial activity of four herbal plants: Houttuynia cordata, Mentha species, Artemisia vulgaris car.indica and Allium sativum, was exam-ined against a reference strain (S.aureus ATCC 25923) using a novel microtiter plate method.

Objectives: The study is to describe some eating habits, lifestyle and physical activities of elderly people in Hai Toan commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province in 2012. Methods: The design is a cross-sectional descriptive study. Direct interviews with 152 people over 60 years old were conducted with pre-designed questionnaires.
The study aimed to assess the situation of stunting and micro-nutrient deficiencies among children under 2 in Northern Mountain and Central Highland. Disease-control study design was applied on 600 children under with disease group (stunted children) and controlled group (non stunted children) in 4 disadvantaged provinces (Lao Cai and Lai Chau in the Northern Mountain; Gia Lai and Kon Tum of Central Highland).
A cross-sectional analytic study was conducted aimed to assess actual rate of overweight-obesity among rural adults aged 25-64 and to investigate factors related to overweight-obesity. The results showed that: The rate of to overweight-obesity among rural Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and Quang Ninh adults aged 25-64 was 13.9% in average, 15.6% in men and 12.0% in women.

Intervention study with a control was conducted in 239 patients with metabolic disorders of blood lipids aged from 25 and older in 10 wards in Ha Dong District, Ha Noi. Intervention group included 119 subjects eating functional food from fermented soybean containing isoflavone (78 mg/day) and the control group included 120 subjects eating cereal without isoflavone during the 3-month study period. .

A cross-sectional survey was carried out in Quang Ngai in 2008, of which a total of 572 mothers having children under 24 months (281 mothers in Tu Nghia and 291 mothers in Nghia Hanh) were involved in the survey. The results have showed that 65.4% mothers had at least 3 antenatal check-ups, only 13.8% mothers had at least 5 antenatal check-ups as Ministry of Health's recomendation.

Aims: To describe actual food intake of women aged 40-65 years with BMI ≥ 23 kg/m2 in Hanoi, 2016. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted on women aged 40-65 years with BMI ≥ 23 kg/m2 in Hanoi, 2016. Results: The average age was approximately 52 years old with BMI= 25.6±3.8 kg/m2. The dietary energy level of the study subjects was 1628 (1589,2; 1705,5) kcal /person/day.

The study was carried out in over six months on 450 children from 7-8 years old in three primary schools in Yen Phong District, Bac Ninh Province. The selected children were divided into three groups: group 1 was given milk enriched with multi -micronutrients, group 2 - standard milk, and group 3 was the control group.

A screening of 28 plants used for making drinks in Vietnam revealed a Cleistocalyx operculatus (Roxb.) Merr and Perry flower bud extract to have the high polyphenol content and the highest inhibitory activity against the a-glucosidase enzyme. The anti-hyperglycemic effects of an aqueous extract from flower buds of Cleistocalyx operculatus (COB) were therefore investigated in the animal and the healthy human subjects.
