Aims: To develop a protocol for geneotyping the LIPC rs2070895 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), using the allele-specific primer (AS-PCR) method.
Objectives: Assessment of nutrition status, anemia, knowledge and practices on anemia prevention and control among female workers in three factories in Binh Duong province and Ho Chi Minh City. Methods: A cross-sectional study on 324 female workers aged 18-45 years.
Aims: Norovirus (NoV) is a common foodborne virus in bivalve molluscs. This study aimed to identify genotypes of NoV genogroups I and II (GI and GII) in Asiatic hard clam (Meretrix meretrix) marketed in Hanoi, Viet Nam, in 2016.
A cross sectional study in 992 high-ranking officers of Antiaircraft- Air Force Arm in September 2007 showed that: The rate of overweight and obesity was 55.8%. The rate of overweight-obesity of men was higher than women. Waist/ Hip ratio (WHR) > 0.90 of men was 34.3%, (WHR) > 0.85 of women was 30.7%.
Conclusion: High rate of malnutrition was presented in the patients before thyroid surgery. It is important to use SGA to evaluate the patients and give an approptiate intervention of nutrition to prevent severe effects of malnutrition on surgical patients.
An epidemiological survey was carried-out on 4879 school students aged 10-15 randomly selected from primary schools and secondary schools in Ho Chi Minh city to evaluate the prevalence of overweight/obesity and their cardiovascular risks. This study aims to compare the prevalence of hospital malnutrition measured by different methods including Subjective Global Assessment (SGA), Malnutrition Screening Tool (MST), serum albumin, total lympho count and mid upper arm circumference in acute care patients in Thong Nhat hospital in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam.
Aims: To describe the nutritional status of patients prior to gastrointestinal surgery. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 90 patients prior to gastrointestinal surgery at Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital. The nutritional status of the patients were assessed using body mass index (BMI), mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC), biochemical index and risk assessment of malnutrition according to the subjective global assessment (SGA).

Hypertriglycemia in children is related to the metabolic syndrome in adulthood and is at greater risk for cardiovascular disease which is the cause of death worldwide. In order to assess the influence of personal characteristics, family factors, eating habits and physical activities to risk of hypertriglycemia in children from 6 to 11 years of age in primary schools in Hanoi, 437 healthy children were conducted case-control study (295 healthy children and 142 hypertriglycemia children).
Objective: The study aimed to describe the situation of breastfeeding of mothers with children under 2 and some related factors. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was carried out on 232 mothers with children under 2 years old in Doan Xa commune, Kien Thuy district, Hai Phong. Results: 97.8% of the mothers understood that breast milk had adequate energy and nutrients needed for the development of children in the first 6 months.

Iron deficiency anemia is still a common public health concern in several regions of Vietnam. The prevalence is high in pregnant women and one of effective interventions is iron supplementation. This study aims to investigate knowledge and practices on nutrition and anemia prevention of pregnant women from Muong minority group, as well as relevant factors affecting iron supplementation scheme, from which to develop an effective intervention program for this target group.

The clinical trial was conducted in adults, who are overweight/obese. It is evident that the weight reducing milk is safe, convenient and has no side effects. After 6 weeks of trial, the product had the efficacy of reducing weight, which is 5.9% of average body weight (3.9kg).
Several factors that influence histamine content in scad products were investigated in a cross sectional study in Thanh Hoa province in 2012. Histamine levels were found from 0.28mg/kg to 1665mg/kg in fresh scads and from 0.08mg/kg to 241mg/kg in processed scads. The histamine content depends on the type of scad, duration from purchasing to processing, the storage conditions, and primary-processing procedures.
